THE MOMENT I REALIZED 6-FIGURES WASN’T ENOUGH
(YIKES)
The words spilled out before I could stop them—
“I worked for years to grow my business so I could finally pay myself a 6-figure salary. And now that I’m here, I’m realizing… it’s not actually that much money.”
I couldn’t believe it when I said that to my own mentor. But she made me feel comfortable, and it just flew out of my mouth.
The guilt hit me instantly. Who was I to want more?
The truth is six figures is rare - especially for women business owners.
In fact, 90% of women-led businesses never even break six figures in gross revenue, let alone take-home pay.
I didn’t want to sound ungrateful. Or entitled. Or like one of those out-of-touch capitalist a-holes.
But here are the facts:
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have two kids.
At the time, I was renting, dreaming of owning a home one day.
I wanted - no, needed - a savings account that would protect me from the inevitable ups and downs of small business ownership.
I wanted to retire someday instead of working until I die.
And I had big ideas—not just for my business, but for the jobs I wanted to create for my employees, the causes I wanted to donate to, and the volunteer work I wanted to make a priority of.
Given all that, $120K per year in take home pay was simply not going to cut it anymore.
And finally I had a coach and mentor to mirror back to me the truth. "Yeah you're right." she said. "That's not nearly as much money as it sounds like."
This was the day I started ideating on my 2nd business - my coaching business. This was the day I started to expand. This was the day I started to get free...
Now it's almost a decade later.
Over these last 9 years, I amassed multi-6 figs in savings and bought a home for my family with a view of the San Francisco Bay.
I paid for a multi-6 fig renovation for said home, which, let's just say, wasn’t exactly move-in ready.
I supported my family while my husband stayed at home to serve as the numero uno caregiver to our two kids (and to me!)

Hi, I’m Kiki Lovelace (she/they)…
I’m a white, cisgendered American woman of European descent, living on Ohlone Land in my beloved chosen home of Oakland, California.
I’m also a longtime small bujsiness owner, dream home owner, mom of 2, former Pilates Instructor & Forrest Yoga Guardian Mentor Teacher, longtime member of San Francisco’s 1960's Go-Go Dancing Sweethearts The Devil-Ettes, and an Embodied Leadership & Success Mentor to my ambitious entrepreneur clients.
I started playing with the magical art of Time Creation almost 13 years ago when I was pregnant and in over $300K of debt, working 70-80 hours per week building my Pilates & yoga studio business.
Now I work about 25 hours a week (three weeks of the month only), and spend most of that time helping my business owner clients build an extraordinary team that cares as much as they do so they can take time away from their business to rest, travel, care for their family and/or work on their next creative project.

Good question. This program isn’t usually the right one for Baby Entrepreneurs. Most of my clients at this level have been at it for a number of years and they’ve amassed a wealth of information and education about what it takes to run a small business.
They’ve already got the basics of offer creation, sales and marketing down pat. Sales are rolling in at this stage, and now the focus is more on developing new revenue streams, as well as team, infrastructure, systems and profitability.
There’s also a focus at this level of maintaining their creative spark and life force so they can continue to expand without burning out or getting bored. -
I’m so glad you said that. Because I’m super efficient and magical with time, and the ENTIRE point of you hiring me will be to learn how to cut down on your working hours - not add more.
My coaching style is precise and efficient. We won’t have to have lengthy conversations for you to get what you came for and achieve extraordinary results. -
My clients are mostly in service-based industries such as wellness, coaching/consulting, education, entertainment and marketing, with 2-50 employees.

It’s the world I’ve been living in for almost a decade and I know the highs and lows of rapid scaling more intimately than you can imagine.
I also know what it means to have a huge beast of a payroll, and to spend your days mentoring and leading your team (which is likely very different from how you used to spend your days) -
I’m so sorry that’s happened to you. I’ve been there several times, and I know it can be a bitter pill to swallow.
And I also know becoming a more savvy and discerning investor takes time and experience. We all make mistakes along the path - it doesn’t mean you can’t trust your own intuition nor other people.
My support to you is go slow. Feel in your body if this is the right thing for you and ask your current coach/mentor for their advice instead of overthinking it or asking a bunch of your non-entrepreneur friends and family.
But at the end of the day you have to trust yourself. Period.
